Ta-ku sent me The We-Rak Beatape about a week ago, and it's been in my ears since then. It's full of heavy hitting beats sprinkled with soul, chopped and prepared just the way I like em.

He's the kind of artist that you check out anything he touches, no hesitation.
This is an incredible track from the aforementioned beatape. Bassline is so SERIOUS.

Thanks to a heads up from Lord Inamel, and now the official announcement from Stones Throw's. Turns out that this project has nothing whatsoever to do with the show two years ago with Karriem Riggins and J-Rocc.

A one-a-month, 12-CD, 6-vinyl series from Madlib.
First up is Before The Verdict, a hip-hop album with Guilty Simpson.

"Madlib is launching the Madlib Medicine Show, a once-a-month, twelve-CD, six-LP series. The Madlib Medicine Show will be a combination of Madlib's new hip-hop productions, remixes, beat tapes, and jazz, as well as mixtapes of funk, soul, Brazilian, psych, jazz and other undefined forms of music from the Beat Konducta's 4-ton* stack of vinyl.

Madlib Medicine Show No. 1 is Before The Verdict featuring Guilty Simpson, a 17-track album mixing remixes and new material, something of a prelude to Madlib & Guilty Simpson's forthcoming OJ Simpson album.

Needless to say, I was hyped as all hell.
He's been my favourite skateboarder since I first started skating in 98.

411 Issue 34 was one of the first skate videos I ever saw. (still one of my favourite skate videos today)
This is his section from that issue.

Channita to me is the steeziest skateboarder, period. No one finesses like Pat can. Definition of butter smooth.
I remember basing kits of this video part for the next 5 years.

Two years ago I read this.

"Madlib, Karriem Riggins, and J.Rocc arrive in UK to perform at All Tomorrow's Parties at the request of Portishead. They will perform under the name Madlib's Medicine Show. First, a jam session at the Heliocentrics studio with Madlib, J.Rocc, Karriem, Malcolm Catto, Jake (bass) and Ade (guitar). Madlib, Malcolm and Karriem alternated on the drums. Malcolm in the middle. J. Rocc on vibes sometimes."

This week, I bring you track from a very interesting album called "En'A-Free-Ka" by Shafiq Husayn.

A week of listening, and the whole album is yet to fully grow on me, but I know that's usually a good sign, I find any album that you love from day one, is usually one that won't have any longevity and hold the test of time. It's always the ones that you didn't really get at first, and with time, grew that understanding.

This whole album has a very unique sound, it's got elements for Funk, Afrobeat, Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop all blended together ever so strangely. Even sonically, the mixing and sounds of this album are different and it's really refreshing to hear this come out in 2009. It almost reminds me of the kind of sound that Common and Dilla brought on "Electric Circus".

Shafiq Husayn - Love Still Hurts

I strongly suggest to anyone that is into music of any kind check out this album, it's something pretty special. Be sure to watch the interviews with Shafiq bellow to gain a better perspective into the man behind the music. (especially the last one, seeing all his equipment is so inspiring. also listening to him spin "Pleasure - Tune In" at the beginning is, dare i say it, a pleasure.

With the approaching Pharoahe Monch concert (December 4 infact) a Yeah-Homies mandatory, "get people psyched on real shit" post is way overdue. So here goes.

For those who don't know, Pharoahe Monch is a Hip Hop legend from New York, his career spans 20 years and he pioneered some of the dopest rhyme styles around! Whilst loved in the underground, he's one of those great aritsts that, never seemed to get the recognition he deserves.
